More Animal Welfare at Birkenhof

Twice a year, our employees have the opportunity to submit their own heartfelt projects. Thanks to Marie's commitment, we were able to provide food for approximately 150 animals at the Birkenhof of the Frankfurt Animal Welfare Association e.V.
Many of them are volunteering outside the office in sports or animal welfare associations, social institutions, or religious communities. We want to promote this commitment through monetary and in-kind donations. Since 2023, employees can therefore apply for project funding twice a year. Through the Heartfelt Projects, we have already been able to support almost 50 different projects.
One project we implemented this year is supporting the Frankfurt Animal Welfare Association e.V. The association took over a former sanctuary for animals that are old, sick, or difficult to rehome, located about 50 km from Frankfurt. The Birkenhof provides the animal inhabitants with a temporary or permanent home where they can stay with dignity and without worry. In addition to classic pets like dogs, cats, and rabbits, there are also ducks, chickens, and geese, as well as large animals like horses, pigs, sheep, and goats. Now, the Birkenhof focuses mainly on rehoming animals – but there are still certain animals that are allowed to spend their retirement there, such as two mountain goats.
The project was submitted by Marie – the Birkenhof is near her hometown. Through her mother, she had already had several points of contact with the farm. She was therefore closely involved in implementing the project. We provided the association with in-kind donations worth €500 for the animals – including wet food, cat litter, and treats. Together with her mother, Marie personally selected, purchased, and delivered the donations to the farm. They were warmly received and even given a small tour.
Marie's Heartfelt Project shows how joint commitment can extend beyond everyday work. We not only create concrete help for associations and institutions but also strengthen our community. We are grateful for the many employees who contribute their time, energy, and ideas and thus make a valuable contribution to the common good.
