Our commitment to climate and nature

Environmental protection is one of the greatest global challenges we face, and we are tackling it with clear measures. Through the targeted use of climate protection measures and the continuous optimization of our processes, we are contributing to the reduction of emissions and using our resourcesefficiently.
E1 | Climate change
As an IT system house association, we bear a special responsibility with regard to energy consumption and CO₂ emissions. The constant change and growth in the industry are closely linked to the continuously increasing energy requirements for digital technologies. Data centers alone are responsible for around 3% of Germany's electricity consumption – a figure that we are addressing with concrete measures.
Our data centers rely on highly efficient power supplies, optimized air conditioning, and natural cooling. 100% of our electricity needs are covered by renewable energies. Our data centers in Frankfurt are a prime example of this, with a PUE value of less than 1.25 – compared to the average value of 1.46 in Germany.
We also make our employee mobility climate-friendly: by switching to electric and hybrid vehicles, we are consistently reducing emissions. Our group-wide fleet comprises around 80 vehicles with plug-in hybrid or electric drives. This means that around 40% of our company vehicles are already electrified – a proportion that we are gradually expanding. However, e-mobility clearly misses its main purpose if it is not combined with electricity from renewable energies. At many Medialine Group locations – including Wiesbaden, Bad Sobernheim, and Munich – green electricity charging stations are available for employees and guests. At our headquarters, we generate the energy required for this directly on site via photovoltaic systems (local grid), thereby covering part of our needs with electricity we produce ourselves. In addition, we offer job bikes and job tickets to further reduce individual traffic.
Our office spaces are continuously being improved in terms of their ecological footprint. Our showcase project for all branches is our headquarters in Bad Sobernheim, which has been operated according to the Green Building Concept since 2016. By operating our own photovoltaic system, we create a circular system of green electricity for our headquarters and ten additional households. In the current expansion of our headquarters, we are oriented towards the KfW-40-NH standard and focus on sustainable solutions such as a central ventilation technology instead of decentralized air conditioning systems. This significantly reduces energy consumption and simultaneously increases the efficiency of building usage. This is complemented by geothermal energy for sustainable heat and cold generation, concrete core activation, the use of heat pumps, as well as additional solar technology and intelligent shading. Here too, we rely on smart building technology to reduce primary energy demand.
E2 | Environmental pollution
We reduce the disposal of old devices by consistently using IT systems beyond their contractually usual runtime and extending their lifespan through repairs, refurbishments, and intelligent lifecycle management. By reusing devices, we ensure that functional devices continue to be used. Together with partners, we design packaging and supply chains to be low in emissions and waste. Cleaning agents without aggressive chemicals are increasingly being used at our locations – with the goal of making a comprehensive switch. We are implementing specific measures to avoid waste in several areas. In logistics, waste paper is processed into filling material for shipping packaging using our own machine, thereby saving plastic. Composters are also used at various locations to recycle organic waste.
E3 | Water and Marine Resources
Our locations are equipped with water-saving fittings in bathrooms and kitchens. Additionally, we raise awareness among our employees for a conscious handling of water – for example, through notices in kitchens and sanitary rooms.
E4 | Biodiversity and Ecosystems
For many years, we have been working with the State Hunting Association of Rhineland-Palatinate e.V. in fawn rescue. For this purpose, we provide thermal drones and our employees actively participate in rescue operations. We also finance stepping stone biotopes, through which wild animals can safely cross agricultural areas, thus making an active contribution to species conservation. We regularly plant trees in the areas of Cologne and Dresden to support regional reforestation. So far, we have planted around 4,500 trees. A tree can bind up to one ton of CO₂ during its lifetime – resulting in a long-term compensation potential of up to 4,500 tons of CO₂.
E5 | Resource Use and Circular Economy
As an IT service provider, we consistently focus on digitalization. In our office buildings, work processes are largely paperless. Invoices, contract documents, documentation, and internal communication are handled digitally. This helps us avoid a significant paper consumption each year – many tens of thousands of pages. Our solutions also help our customers save resources and make processes more efficient.

This also applies to old hardware. We ensure that our own hardware as well as that of our customers is meaningfully reused through sale or donation. Defective devices are disposed of professionally.
Through hybrid work models, desk sharing, and the associated targeted reduction of office space, we additionally lower our resource consumption – particularly in the areas of lighting and heating energy.

Our Sustainability Stories
Our colleagues at CYBERDYNE have already planted over 3,000 seedlings in the past three years. The annual team event not only supports reforestation, but also fosters a genuine sense of community.
More infoTwice a year, our employees have the opportunity to submit projects that are close to their hearts. Thanks to Marie's commitment, we were able to provide food for around 150 animals at the Birkenhof farm run by the Frankfurt Animal Welfare Association.
More infoWe have been working closely with the Rhineland-Palatinate State Hunting Association on various animal and species conservation projects since 2021. One of these projects involves the use of thermal imaging drones to prevent mowing losses. Fawn rescue shows how modern technology can provide direct assistance for animal welfare and is therefore particularly important to us.
More infoTwice a year, our employees have the opportunity to submit their own heart projects. Thanks to Denys' commitment, we were able to procure new training equipment for the athletes of Sportgemeinde Weilimdorf e.V.
